RETURN TO TRAINING
We hope you have all enjoyed a good rest at this stage and are all now eagerly preparing to return to training. We sincerely hope that you have all followed our request to start back running, are now doing a reasonable run every second day and will be more than ready to start training when we return.
We hope you have all enjoyed a good rest at this stage and are all now eagerly preparing to return to training. We sincerely hope that you have all followed our request to start back running, are now doing a reasonable run every second day and will be more than ready to start training when we return. If you have not started yet, you can still make a difference by starting now. Run 15-20 mins (younger groups 10-15m) every second day and you will reap the benefits. The first Cross Country event will be held in Greystones in late Sept.
Training for Groups 1 & 2 (7-8.30pm) will resume on Tues. 6th Sept, with groups 3-6 (6-7pm) returning on Fri. 9th Sept. Little Athletics (5-6pm) will return on Tues. 13th Sept. All athletes who are changing training times have been notified. Those who did not respond to the invite will now stay in their original group, as all available places have now been allocated.
OUTSTANDING DEBTS
A big 'Thank You' to those athletes who paid their debts before taking their break. Those who still owe for weekly subs/entries are reminded that these debts need to be sorted on your return in Sept. If you are unsure whether you owe money, just ask at check-in. If this continues to be an issue, we may have to refuse entry to those who arrive without their €2 and we would rather not have to do this.
We remind you also that while the club covers all entry fees for it's juvenile members, athletes who don't show up for events they have entered for, are then liable for these fees. Further entries cannot be accepted for these athletes until said fees are paid.
URGENT APPEAL FOR HELP
We are still very short of coaches for the Tues 6-7pm slot, so we are again making an urgent appeal to anyone who is free to help out for 1 hour on Tues. to please contact Theresa @ 0868635797. Even an hour every second week would be a great help, if we could get people to share. You will have help and we will ensure you get some basic training. We won't just drop you in at the deep end! Unfortunately, if we don't get some help, we will not be able to continue with our younger groups!
We also need helpers to look after the check-in on all three nights. This generally only takes about 20 mins, but is a huge help to the coaches, as it allows training to begin on time.
FIT4YOUTH
We plan to revive our Fit4Youth group this Sept. and have places available in this group. This group is for age 12 yrs upwards and is aimed at those who want to run for fitness rather than take part in competitive athletics. Athletes will warm up on the track with the rest of the groups and will then be taken on a run by a qualified coach. Group members can also join in with the Core/Circuits session on Wed. evenings.
ADULT RUNNING
Over the next few weeks we plan to re-vamp our adult programmes as we are keen to build the adult section of our club for both serious and recreational runners. For the moment our Beginner2Winner group continues with sessions on Mon/Wed at 6pm and we hope to see lots of new faces coming along.
Our regular established Fit4Life sessions continue on Mon/Wed at 8.30pm & Wed/Fri at 10am and our road run takes place on Monday evenings at 8.30pm with Caoimhin MacMaolain. This group meet at the track and do a run around Greystones. All level & abilities will be catered for at our sessions. All club members young & old are welcome to the Sunday morning run, but U12’s must be accompanied by an adult. Sunday run venues are posted on our web page & Facebook page each week!
