TRAINING

Most athletes & coaches are now on a well earned break after a great summer of competition, where we had some outstanding performances from many of our athletes. Enjoy the rest, but do spare a thought for the girls still training and wish them well as they continue their preparation to compete in the European Clubs Cup in Portugal in September, where they took the bronze last year!

Training throughout the summer for this event, will be by arrangement with the coaches involved.

For all our other athletes we recommend a full two weeks break, which many have had by now and then you should start back gradually, running 15-20 mins (younger groups 10-15m) every second day and adding 5 mins each week. This way you will return in Sept. 'Fit to Train' and not have to spend the first few weeks trying to get fit. Our first Cross Country event will be less than two weeks after we return in Sept.

Training for Groups 1 & 2 will resume on Tues. 6th Sept, with groups 3-6 returning on Fri. 9th Sept. Little Athletics will return on Tues. 13th Sept. Athletes who are changing training times will be notified of this before our return.

Groups for Sept.'16 will be organised very soon to allow us time to notify those on our waiting lists. Parents of athletes from all groups, who have not attended for a number of weeks, need to contact us right away if their children intend to return in Sept. Otherwise places will be given to those on our waiting list and we will not be able to accommodate them in Sept.

OUTSTANDING DEBTS

A big 'Thank You' to those athletes who paid their debts over the past few weeks. Those who still owe for weekly subs/entries are reminded that these debts need to be sorted on your return in Sept. If you are unsure whether you owe money, just ask at check-in. If this continues to be an issue, we may have to refuse entry to those who arrive without their €2 and we would rather not have to do this.

We remind you also that while the club covers all entry fees for it's juvenile members, athletes who don't show up for events they have entered for, are then liable for these fees. Further entries cannot be accepted for these athletes until said fees are paid.

A small turn out for the Inter Counties event in Leixlip, but a fantastic day's competition and a real team spirit with several athletes competing in multiple events during the day, finishing with some very exciting relays. Well done to all!

A long trip to Cork for R2 of the National League and another great performance from our Slí Cualann teams. Once again many of them went above and beyond the call of duty, giving everything they had and more to get every possible point available. A huge Thank You to PJ Scully who gave up his day off to drive the bus for us........ and a long day it was, but so worthwhile, with the girls team finishing 2nd overall and qualifying for the Final.

Unfortunately we had a depleted team for the final last Sunday, as several athletes were not available. Despite this the girls put in a tremendous effort as always and finished in 5th place overall. Well done to all the girls who competed so well throughout the entire League!
