TRAINING
Training for our younger groups ie 5-6pm & 6-7pm sessions, has now finished for the summer. We hope all our young athletes enjoyed the final night's games & the goodies afterwards & we look forward to seeing you all back in Sept. A huge 'Thank You' to our coaches and an appeal for more help in Sept. please. Have a great summer everyone.
Training for the 7-8.30pm groups continues through July as many of our athletes are still competing up to the first weekend in August. Most will take a short break then and return on the first Tues of Sept. However our Junior Girls, who are off to compete in Europe in Sept., will continue to train throughout the summer, by arrangement with coaches.
Athletes from all groups, who have not attended for a number of weeks, need to contact us right away if they intend to return in Sept. Otherwise places will be given to those on our waiting list and we will not be able to accommodate them in Sept.
OUTSTANDING DEBTS
A number of athletes regularly forget to bring their weekly €2 track fee and some owe for several weeks, built up over a period of time. Our check-in crew regularly remind athletes of outstanding fees owed, often to no avail, and so we are now asking that all money owed to the club should be paid off before we take our summer break. We can then start back in Sept. with a clean slate. We know it is easy to forget, but it is unfair that some athletes run up debts while others always pay their fees. If you are unsure whether you owe money, just ask at check-in.
We remind you also that while the club covers all entry fees for it's juvenile members, athletes who don't show up for events they have entered are then liable for these fees. Further entries cannot be accepted for these athletes until said fees are paid.

The Bray Invitational Event saw another great night of athletics in Greystones. Disappointing that a number of selected athletes didn't bother to show up, especially as places were so limited and they were denying others a chance to compete. Those who did show up put on another great performance and GAC once again won the Bourke Cup for top club & the Medley Relay Shield.
The Invitational Mile saw Richael Browne take the honours in the women's event, with Carol Costello 2nd and Cillian Browne take 3rd in the men's event. Well done to all!
Great results again at the National Juniors/U23's on Sat 2nd July.
U23: Claire Foley Gold in the 100m & Bronze in the 200m, Aoife Conroy Bronze in the 400mH.
Junior: Gold for our relay team Alannah O'Carroll, Alana Ryan, Katy Conroy, Richael Browne.
The National Combined Events on Sun 3rd saw Ellen McNally & Emma Quirk produce several PB's throughout the day leaving them in 4th & 5th position going in to the final 800m where they finished a creditable 8th & 10th.
Great performance also from our Slí Cualann teams in R1 of the National League, with the
girls team lying 3rd overall going into R2 on July 17th and looking good for a place in the final. A depleted Men's team struggled a bit for points, but with a bigger team going to Cork, we hope for a better showing in R2.
Congratulations to all the medal winners and qualifiers for the All Irelands!
Best of Luck to all those who are competing in the many events listed over the next couple of weeks!
