Upcoming Competitions

COMPETITIONS (please read and save details)
Lots of Competition ahead, with the final two rounds of the XC League coming up rapidly and then on to the Track & Field (T&F) season. Entry forms will be on our club website shortly.

 Round 5 of the XC League will be held next Fri evening 4th April in the Community Field in Aughrim. Check-in from 6.30pm with 1st race at 6.45pm. This time it is even ages, U6/8/10/12/14/15, but as usual athletes can move up one year, so all can compete. The Aughrim committee have informed us that there will be a sign on Rednagh Rd to direct people to the correct field.  A good number of our athletes are in the running for medals in this League, so keep your attendance up to make sure you get one.  Attend all 6 to get Gold, 5 to get Silver, 4 to get Bronze. Closing date for entry is this Thurs 3rd Apr. No late entries.  Fee €2 if not paid on Tuesday at training.

 Round 6 will be held in Greystones on Thurs. 17th April in the top field down at Shoreline Sports Park (track) This will be un-even ages U7- U15.

Please note that there will be no 6-7pm training on Fri due to the League races, as a number of coaches have to be available to help out at the event. Otherwise our athletes will not be allowed to compete.

 Wicklow County Championships:  this year the Co. Champs are being held on a Fri evening and all day Sat instead of the usual Sat/Sun arrangement. Dates are Fri 2nd May, checking in at 6pm for a 6.30pm start. Younger athletes (up to age 10 in 2014) will just have a short programme that evening and their Award Scheme and relays will be held on Sat 3rd May. Older athletes will have their programme spread across the two days. Full programme will be available after next Tues. nights county meeting and will be published on our web-site along with entry forms.  This is the biggest T&F event for all County clubs and we expect to see a huge atendance from or athletes. This is what you all train for!

 St. Abban’s T&F event will be held on Mon 5th May at 12.30 pm at their track in Monavea, Crettyard, Co Laois. This is always a very well organised event and of a high standard and is well worth the trip. GAC athletes have done very well here over the years. Entry €3 on the day for anyone interested in attending.  Programme will be on our club noticeboard at the track.

We remind parents that they should not drop children off at the track without ensuring there are coaches present. GAC is only responsible for the athletes after they have checked in at the bottom track gate. We recommend that younger children be accompanied to this gate and collected here after the session to avoid having them wandering around the busy Carpark/Sportspark on their own. We have a limited number of coaches available and cannot supervise drop off/collection, as coaches are trying to get ready for the training sessions.
