CONGRATULATIONS
Well done to GAC athletes Ben Jones U14, Richael Browne, Susie McParland, Sadhbh Redford, Anna, Hayes, Lisa Dallaghan U16, Padraig Lennon, Cillian Browne, Jack Lacey Curtis U18, Dylan Grimes Larkin Junior, who all competed in the All Ireland XC in Santry last Sunday. A fabulous day with some tremendous racing. It was great to watch Wicklow’s Fionnuala Britton cruise to victory once again in the Inter-counties!
Best of Luck to all those taking part in the uneven ages on Dec 15th in Waterford.

DON’T FORGET OUR CANDLELIGHT RUN
In June of this year Niall Patrick, the 18 yr old son of Greystones AC athlete Jackie, tragically lost his life.  Jackie has been a popular and enthusiastic club member for several years and has represented both Greystones AC & Slí Cualann AC on many occasions. Niall, who was a great sportsman himself, was very proud of his mum’s running achievements and always gave her his full support.
In remembrance of Niall and in support of Jackie, Peter, Conor & Ciara, Greystones AC is organising a Candlelight Run on Sat. 30th Nov. This event will take place in Kindlestown Wood and will be around a loop of approx. 1 mile. We will begin at dusk, around 4.30pm and participants can run, jog or walk  as many loops as they wish. Refreshments will be provided afterwards.
Donations to AWARE will be accepted on the night, but your presence and support is far more important!  Hoping to see lots & lots of athletes, parents, siblings, relatives & friends on the night.
Directions from Greystones: Go through Delgany and take the right turn at The Delgany Inn. Straight up this road for approx 2.5K and the entrance to the woods is on your right. As parking is limited, the Lawless family, who live across the road, are kindly providing extra parking in their yard. We will have signs!
We will need a number of stewards on the night to help with parking and directions. As parking is limited, please try to car pool if you can to limit the number of cars we have to cater for.  We will also need some jars for the lights, so if you have a few lying around, please bring them to Theresa at training!
Many thanks to those who have offered to bake buns etc. all will be greatly appreciated. Here’s hoping for a dry night!

JOHNNY HAYDEN ULTRA RUNNING FUNDRAISER
Johnny Hayden, who is the uncle of two of our club athletes, was paralised after a back operation and is undergoing extensive and costly treatment to help him walk again. An ultra running event, on 3 treadmills, has been organised in Matt Brittons shop from 1pm on Fri 29th Nov. to 1pm Sat 30th Nov. Runners are needed to help out at this event by joining the lads for a while on the 3rd treadmill. You can book time slots and/or get sponsopship cards by contacting  kevinkeyes@glenfuels.com. Sponsorship cards are also available from Theresa at training. There is also an opportunity to make a donation and possibly win a wine hamper, by guessing how many miles Ultra runner  Barry Thornton will cover in the 24 hrs. These cards are also available at training. See www.mediaconcepts.ie/johnnyhayden for full details.

 ROUND 3 WICKLOW XC LEAGUE

ADULT CLUB MEMBERS
The Tues night road runs are continuing and everyone who comes along is really enjoying them. The group meets at the track at 7.15pm, and after a short warm-up various groups, from absolute beginners to regular runners, head out for a run over various distances. We now have markings on the cycle track in both directions to help you gage distance and pace. Runners of all abilities are welcome, but remember, you do not have to be a runner to come along to any of our adult sessions, as beginners are very welcome. . We hope that the numbers will continue to grow. Running is something you can take up at any age, so why not join in the road run  on Tues.nights while the kids are on the track or try a Fit4Life session on Mon or Wed. at 10am or 8.30pm

FIT4LIFE
The final Fit4Life of 2013 is a 4Ml trail run in beautiful Avondale. It will take place at 10am on Sun. next 24th Nov. Check-in from 9.30am at the top carpark.

SUNDAY RUNS
Attendance at Sunday runs has improved a bit, but is still very poor. This is a very important part of your training and by far the most enjoyable run of the week. Due to the Fit4Life race this week, we will move our run to Avondale this Sunday, but will be back in Djouce the following week @ 10am. Please make an effort to attend these runs, you will be amazed the difference it will make to your running and your general fitness.
