WICKLOW LSP
It now looks like there is very little hope of the Wicklow Local Sports Partnership (LSP) surviving and this is going to be a huge loss to all Sport in the county as well as Children's groups,
Disability groups, Schools, Older adult groups and many many more.
In a last attempt to make the County Council re-think their position, we are part of a group involved in trying to organise a protest march, on this Friday evening, at 7pm, at Shoreline Leisure
Greystones, while the count for the Presidential election is taking place. This is an ideal opportunity to reach all our politicians at once and there should be plenty of newspaper and TV
coverage around.
If this is to have any effect, we would need as many members as possible present, from all clubs/groups. This is an appeal to all our club members, parents, grandparents, siblings, relatives and
friends to come out and support this protest on Friday evening. We will not be able to go ahead without a good deal of support from everyone.
We were one of the last counties in Ireland to get our LSP, and now we are going to be the first to lose it! Other counties fought and won this battle, so can we.
LET'S FIGHT TO KEEP THIS VERY NECESSARY AND WORTHWHILE SERVICE............IF WE MAKE ENOUGH NOISE, THEY WILL HAVE TO LISTEN TO US!
Up-dates will be on the web –site and Facebook page!
If you absolutely can’t make it, at least sign the petition at training!
Well done to all the club athletes who competed at the uneven ages XC in Roundwod. It was another great turnout for GAC and yet again we came away with absolutely amazing results, which included
7 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze individual medals and 5 team golds and 1 team silver. There were fantastic results in the U7’s & U9’s also, where many were competing for the first time! Great
runnig guys! Full results can be found on www.athleticswicklow.com
Congratulations also to Ellie Hartnett who was 2nd in the Junior XC in the Phoenix Park last Sunday and to Padraig lennon and Dylan Grimes Larkin who put in fine runs in the men’s 5 mile
event.
LEINSTER UNEVEN AGE XC
Athletes intending to take part in the Leinster uneven ages, U11 up (U10’s can compete) XC in Adamstown, Wexford on Sun 13th Nov, will need to give their names to Theresa by next Tues 1st Nov.
Leinster will not take late entries under any circumstances, so there is no point in contacting us after this date.A few were disappointed as they were late for the last one. We need to get as
many teams as possible out there, so please try to attend. Let us know if you are stuck for transport and we will arrange a lift.
Good luck to all competing this Sunday in Mullingar, at the even ages and Novice!
UPCOMING COMPETITIONS

We will be holding the Wicklow XC League again this year, but dates have not been set, as yet.
Sunday morning runs, held at 10am on any Sun. that we are not competing, are very poorly attended. This is a very important part of our training and we would ask athletes to make an effort to
attend, if at all possible. These runs are for all athletes from U11 to adult. The venue for Sunday the 6th Nov. is Kindlestown Woods (just up the road) ……..please try to make it! Lifts can be
arranged, if needed.
