Well done to all the athletes who competed at the National indoors in Magherafelt at the weekend. We had great performances all round with all our athletes making the finals. Special
congratulations to Conor Dempsey on his gold medal in the Long Jump and to Claire Foley for her silver in the Sprint. Conor also competed in the sprint where he finished 4th and 6th in the
hurdles. Claire Fox finished 5th in the 1500m and Lorcan Lalor was 6th in his hurdles final. Ara Freeman cruised home to win her sprint heat comfortably and was leading her final when she had a
nasty fall 5m from the line. Despite this she still managed to get herself across the line in 5th place. A great prospect for the future. We look forward to the second round the weekend after
next in Nenagh.
Events that concern us in Nenagh on 2nd/3rd April are 200m, 800m, HJ, relays.
REMINDER OF CLUB MEETING
An information night, which will incorporate the club AGM, will take place on this Thursay 24th March and is open to all Junior & Senior members and parents of all juvenile members. An
informal chat where you can meet the coaches and committee members, hear how we’re doing and our future plans and have any questions answered. We are always looking for new ideas so please
come along and give us your input. We promise it won’t be a long night. Meeting will take place in Shoreline Sports Park at 8pm.
VERY IMPORTANT
The next and final round of the XC League will be held on the Murrough in Wicklow on next Sun. 27th March. Check-in at the top car-park from 12.30pm with races starting at 1pm. Points will be
added to the League table at the end of the races and the overall trophy will be presented on the day. Our club is in the running for this trophy, so let’s get lots of athletes out there and see
if we can win it.
TRAINING GROUPS
In an effort to improve the ratio of coaches to athletes we have further divided the younger groups, so there are now 4 groups at this time. We have divided the athletes by year of birth, as this
is how they compete. We have a great group of volunteer coaches, who make all this possible, but we are always looking for more help, so if you can spare an hour a week or even every other week
please get in touch. We promise we won’t throw you in at the deep end. We will organise a coaching course for all volunteers and we promise lots of help and support. If you think you can help,
please contact Theresa on 0868635797 or have a chat at training or come along to the meeting.
CLUB SHOP
The club shop will be open on the 1st Tues of each month in the room behind the reception area at the track. It will be open from 6.30pm to 7.30 pm approx. We have singlets, shorts, t-shirts,
hoodies, jackets, tracksuit bottoms and rain gear in most sizes. We have a couple of pairs of second hand spikes in stock also and one new pair. Next shop day will be Tues 5th April.
REGIONAL SQUAD
A reminder to all those selected for the Regional Squad that your next training session is on Sat. 9th April in Santry from 11am-2pm. If you are lucky enough to have a place on this squad you
should make a big effort to attend.
