Greystones Athletic Club

Congratulations to all the athletes who competed in the National XC last Sun.in ALSSA Santry. The weatherconditions were atrocious but the performances were excellent and all the athletes are to be congratulated for theirsupreme effort and fantastic attitude. Amy Howard and Claire Fox both won individual medals in the girls U17 eventand in the Girls U13 our team of Laura Fitzgerald, Sinead O’Neill, Alison Dawson Whelan, Anna Hayes, Rosa Kirwan,Richael Browne and Susie McPartland took the bronze club team and county team medals. We didn’t have a full teamin the boys U13 but Scott Howard, Jon Luke Kelly and Eric Dalby all had a great race.

All roads lead to Nenagh this weekend for the Leinster indoors. We have a good number of athletes taking part andlook forward to some great competition on both days. Please look up www.athleticsleinster.org underProgrammes & Entry Forms to check which day your events are on and make sure you are there in good time. Pleasemake sure you have a club singlet and have no bigger than 5mm spikes in your shoes, as they will be checked. Bringplenty warm clothes as it may be indoors, but it is probably the coldest place on earth!!!!

The Sportshall Competition went really well with a great number of young athletes taking part and all thoroughlyenjoying the event. A huge Thank You to all the coaches and the small number of older athletes who turned up to helprun the event…….we couldn’t do it without you guys! Well done to all.
Well done to Niamh Kearney who will receive the National Juvenile award this Sat. night for the second year in a row.

Groups 3,4,5, who train from 6-7pm will remain in the hall for the present, but groups 1&2 will return to the track forFriday training, as these athletes are back competing at T&F events.

Parents should ensure that coaches are present before leaving young athletes at the track or the hall. Coaches can not beheld responsible for children who are left unattended. Please encourage children to use the toilet before attending as itdiverts scarce coaching resources to accompany children to the bathrooms.
