Well done to all who competed last weekend, both in Nenagh on Sat and Tullamore on Sun. On Sat, junior athletesCaoimhe Basquille, Laura Boylan and Niamh Kearney started their Indoor track season and these, along with a numberof others, will compete again this coming Sat in the AAI games. On Sun we had the Nat. XC which was postponedfrom Dec. and Greystones girls Laura Fitzgerald, Sinead O'Neill, Sadhbh Redford, Anna Hayes, Lisa Dallaghan, RosaKirwan and Sophie Boylan flew the flag for Co. Wicklow along with Anna Managhan of Parnell. Despite the manyweeks of missed training due to bad weather, the girls gave a good account of themselves over the 2.5K course. Ouronly other runners were Amy Howard and Claire Fox, who competed in U17 4.5K race. Both ran well, with Amyfinishing 31st and Claire 36th.
DON'T FORGET REGISTRATION/INSURANCE FEES
Fees are now due for 2011. AAI have increased their fees this year and so we have had to increase ours also. We havetried to keep our fees as low as possible and we are still lower than most
other clubs. Registrations will be taken at thecentre on Tues 18th Jan , from 6-7.30pm and on Wed 19th from 6.30-7pm. As we have new forms to be filled out, itwill be necessary for parents to
attend and sign these. Registrations will also be taken at the awards night on Jan 21st.Fees must be paid during this week, as coaches are unable to accept them at training. Athletes will not be
covered byinsurance after Jan. and will not be allowed to attend training or other club events, if registrations are not up to date.
Fees for 2011: €30 for one family member (adult or child), €50 for two, €70 for three and €90 for four or more. Theweekly sub. will remain at €2. Some athletes have become very careless about
paying this €2. This is very unfair tothose who do pay all the time. As these fees are what pay for the hire of the track and the hall, entry fees and othercosts, it is essential that everyone
pays their weekly subs.
AWARDS NIGHT REMINDER:
We are holding the Greystones AC Awards at Shoreline Leisure Centre, on this Friday evening at 8pm. We havemissed these awards for a couple of years and look forward to bringing them back this
year. All athletes and theirfamilies are invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served. This is a great opportunity to get to meet the coachesand officials and have a chat! There will be
no training this Friday because of the awards, but we hope to see youall there at 8pm.
We would like to congratulate Niamh Kearney, Claire Foley and Ferdia Kenny on winning Wicklow Star Awards lastFri night and also Caoimhe Basquille and Ferdia Kenny on winning the Leinster Awards
the week before. Well done toall! Congrats also to Miriam Mahon, Orla Caffrey and AJ Cotter on their Fit4Life awards.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
The Wicklow Jun/Sen XC is on Sun 23rd Jan in Shanganagh. Co relays are not now being run that day. On Fri 28th Jan,we will have a Sportshall competition in the Shoreline hall from 6-9pm. This is
for all athletes up to U15 (2011ages). Older athletes will be needed to help run the events. Please be on time as we may not be able to include thosewho turn up late, if teams are already sorted.
As it is a team competition, you must and able to stay for the whole event, otherwise your team can't continue to take part and this is very upsetting for them.
Leinster Relays are on in Nenagh on 30th Jan. Entries are due in,so all athletes who wish to compete should textTheresa (0868635797) asap and we will try to make up as many teams as possible. The
Jun (u17-u20)/Sen.Mast eventsare also on that day. Entries asap, please.
The Nat”B” XC is on in Santry on 6th Feb and we would like to put as many teams as possible into this. (U11-U19)Names at training next week please.
CLUB GEAR
Club gear will be available from the club shop, once a month, in the room behind the reception area, at the track. Thisweek it will be available on Fri evening after the awards. We have a good
supply of gear now, but orders will be takenif sizes are not in stock.
WEB-SITE
Once again we would ask that you sign up to the web-site and get your newsletter sent to you directly, as we willnot be issuing a paper version unless someone specifically askes for it. The 1st
two months of a fixtures calendarare now available on the site and the rest of the months will be added during this coming week as we are waiting forconfirmation of some dates. This will give
athletes a chance to plan their holidays etc. around competition, wherepossible. Keep checking as we will add any additional events, eg Fit4Life races etc. as they become available.
